Reading White Flower Farm’s catalog and seeing their small boxes on our doorstep are part of the history of Walnut Hill. Amos Pettingill, the pen name used by founding owners, William Harris and Jane Grant, and now by Eliot Wadsworth II who bought the farm from Harris and Grant in 1976, has delighted us for decades with his cheeky column in each catalog.
Now Kathy has visited the farm, located in western Connecticut, that charmed us as young gardeners. She had a wonderful visit with the always cheerful and informed staff and admired the 280ft. border garden and beautifully planted containers.
Hope you are amused as we are that they are promoting Amos for president! Our bet is that he would get more than a few votes!
